So maybe triggering to some.** Has anyone ever dealt with assault and healing from that while pregnant? Also, previous birth trauma. These videos were very hard for me to watch at first and I almost treated labor like that pain of something being done to me. My midwife reminded me while I was in labor "this isn't being done to you, it IS you" got me through. I wanted to literally and psychically jump out of my body at some points. The affirmation "don't run away from it" was handy. I went from some not so peaceful moments, very emotional moments, to pure serenity when it was time to push. I felt my body opening, my body pushing, and could no longer feel my contractions in the end. I pushed with my body pushing and my baby came. I was on my back but labored all day doing normal everyday things, off and on my yoga ball especially during active labor, and I tried the pool but couldn't leave my bed during the transition. My baby came while I was on my back. That's where I found comfort. I was regretful of this position after birth because it was all too familiar to my traumatic hospital birth, with the same women holding my legs for support, but I've accepted it.
