Now that we've handled that, let's learn some things: - 62 million people are at risk for vision loss and half of those people did not have an eye exam last year. - Less than 50% of Americans get eye exams more frequently than every two years. - Many eye and vision problems have no obvious signs or symptoms. As a result, individuals are often unaware that problems exist. - The vision screenings given at schools are often not enough to detect vision problems. - One in four children has a vision problem that can interfere with learning and behavior, and only a comprehensive eye exam can detect all of those problems. 80% of what children learn is through their eyes, yet 85% of America's pre-schoolers haven't received a vision exam by age five. - 25% of all school children in the U.S. have a vision problem significant enough to affect learning. - Over 30 million Americans have a visual impairment that affects their quality of life. The Think About Your Eyes campaign does not exist to sell you a product or put you in the perfect pair of glasses.
