Next prime minister: Boris Johnson’s first speech as Tory leader

Boris Johnson has been elected as the new Conservative leader and will become the next prime minister after beating Jeremy Hunt and taking 66% of the vote. In his victory speech, the former mayor of London said he would bring a new 'can do' spirit to the country. He will not take office formally until Wednesday afternoon after Theresa May's final prime minister’s questions.
